Le Tonkinois is a traditional brand of natural oil varnishes. The formula is based on a combination of linseed oil and tung oil, cooked together in a special process. Since 1906, the varnish was produced in Ivry-sur-Seine near Paris. In July 2024, the brand was acquired by Hermann Sachse GmbH, a German traditional company that continues production, ensuring the proven quality.

Le Tonkinois varnish is known for its high elasticity, water resistance, and UV resistance. It does not peel, remains flexible, and provides long-lasting protection for wood and metal surfaces. Due to its natural composition, it is free from synthetic binders and harmful solvents. Le Tonkinois is used in maritime applications as well as for furniture, flooring, and other woodwork both indoors and outdoors.

The product range includes various variants, such as the classic Le Tonkinois Vernis, the more refined Marine No. 1 for higher demands, as well as special products like Bio Impression as a primer and Gelomat for matting. The varnishes are available in different container sizes and can be customized as needed.

LE TONKINOIS BIO IMPRESSION is a highly effective pre-coating oil that protects, beautifies and hardens wood. It is ideal for pre-treatment before varnishing, as it penetrates deep into the wood and, due to its saturation, unifies the absorption behavior of the wood surface. Highly effective paint remover and softener based on renewable raw materials. Removes fresh and dried paint residues from painting, varnishing and artists' tools. Gentle cleaning of brush bristles, also suitable for real hair brushes. Easily removes the most stubborn stains such as water-based or solvent-based paints, varnishes, oils, waxes, grease, soot, tar and bitumen. Biodegradable.Application: Shake well before use. Immerse fresh, paint-soiled tools in Natural Brush Cleaner, roll well (tap tools vigorously on the bottom of the container several times) and then rinse with water until the water is no longer discolored. Soak heavily dried, soiled tools overnight in Natural Brush Cleaner, roll well and rinse with water. Excellent for storing tools in an open container, as Brush Cleaner hardly evaporates. LE TONKINOIS Wood Refresher

The product uses natural active ingredients to remove weather-related graying and soilingstains from wooden surfaces and brightens the wood again. Ideal for pretreating old wooden surfaces that are to be oiled afterwards. Application: Shake the container well before use, then apply with a brush and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash off with water and a brush. Do not use in direct sunlight. Allow the surface to dry well afterwards.
