Chain plates & stemhead fittings
Shroud plates, also known as eye plates, initialise traction forces of the shrouds into the hull. They have an eye to be attached to shrouds and stays. In sailing, for a more precise distinction, they are called shroud plates, forestay plates, backstay plates or even more special, bowsprit shroud plates. These fittings are either attached to the hull or a shored up part of the deck. Chainplates and stemhead fittings are fittings which are firmly attached to the stem of a ship.
