Heavy ship doors and hatches require fastenings that secure them reliably and, where the design demands it, pull the closure firmly against its frame and seal. Door dogs, basket-nut fastenings and other locking devices are used for this purpose. Selection depends on the installation, door or hatch thickness, material and method of operation. Weld-in fittings are particularly suitable for steel doors and hatches, while other versions are fitted with mounting plates.
TOPLICHT supplies door and hatch dogs in steel and A2 or A4 stainless steel for heavy marine doors and hatch covers. Versions to DIN 83104 are available with two handles, a handle and square spindle, or a flat head. Basket-nut fastenings to DIN 83407 combine stainless steel or brass components with steel weld-on plates. The range also includes rubber tension latches and a low-profile aluminium hatch fastener which can be operated from outside with a winch handle and from inside by means of a lever.
Associated parts include stop pins, grease nipples, sleeves, pressure forks, DIN hinges and square socket keys. Chair securing fittings with webbing, a tension screw or chain are also available for restraining loose seating during vessel movement. A traditional bronze key is supplied for older deck and tank closures with wide slotted caps.
