Cooling-water filters, also known as raw-water strainers or sea strainers, protect a vessel’s engine cooling circuit against coarse debris carried in with the outside water. The strainer element traps material such as weed, sand and small stones before it can enter pumps or other parts of the cooling system. Relevant selection criteria include connection size, flow capacity, installation space and the arrangement of inlet and outlet ports.
TOPLICHT supplies raw-water strainers with bodies made from nickel-plated brass and from bronze or gunmetal. Removable strainer elements are made from AISI 316L or V4A stainless steel. Depending on the version, both connections are positioned at the side, or the inlet is located at the bottom with a side outlet. Models with transparent polycarbonate lids allow the strainer element to be inspected without opening the housing. Versions with metal lids are also available. Screw lids are sealed with O-rings.
The range includes cooling-water strainers in various connection and capacity sizes together with matching replacement and service parts. These include replacement strainer elements, mounting brackets and lid keys for inspection and cleaning. Selected sea strainers are supplied with RINA approval.
