On a ship, many things need to be locked and enclosed to protect against unauthorised access. On most ships, toilet doors or companionway are probably equipped with a locking mechanism. On traditional ships or larger yachts, there are a lot of cabin doors, sliding doors, cabinet doors, flaps and drawers, that are sometimes not accessible to everyone. For this reason, these doors have to be fitted with door locks or furniture locks.
