At old times sailcloth was woven from pure hemp or linen. Other natural fibres like nettle or flax were also used to make it. Cotton cloth fabrics were not manufactured until the 19th century. The cloths were not only used for sailmaking but also for making cargo hold covers, tarps and awnings. Tents, hammocks, bags, pouches and sacks were also made from sailcloth. Old types of cloth create an authentic effect on traditional working boats and classic yachts. Dry storage, good ventilation and regular impregnation with tannin or Hydrolin are particularly important with this type of cloth. An easy-care alternative to natural fibre cloths is offered by Duradon cloth. It is made of UV-resistant and tear-proof synthetic fibre but looks similar. The service life of tarpaulins and awnings can be extended by good fastening. The cloth should be well stretched and not flap in wind. It can be worthwhile to use lacing buttons or LOXX fasteners, or to use a punch and die and a cutting punch to punch in a few additional tarpaulin eyelets or brass grommets.
The NOA deck frame forms a roof structure made of sturdy aluminium tubes, over which tarpaulins (see ‘Accessories’) are stretched. This provides the yacht with good protection, for example during winter storage on land in the open air or at its mooring. The structure is suitable for boats/yachts with a bow and stern basket with a tube diameter of 22 mm or 25 mm. The deck frame is screwed to the bow and stern basket at the front and rear. The middle supports are placed on the deck (against the coaming). The specified length range refers to the upper bar, which forms the ridge of the roof structure. To obtain the desired length, the end elements can be shortened accordingly. Please refer to the assembly instructions under ‘Downloads’ for the exact composition of the different sized sets. The complete set is delivered in a 2.5 metre long cardboard tube. A transport bag is available as an accessory.
A sturdy, tear-resistant winter tarpaulin for all applications. With a high UV resistance and 100% waterproof.Made from white translucent polyethylene tape fabric (1000 denier) coated on both sides, 250 g/m² thick. The edges are welded all around, reinforced with PP tape and equipped with large brass eyelets every 50 cm. The corners are reinforced with plastic.Tarpaulin size = finished size.
The NOA Extra overhang deck frame forms a roof structure from sturdy aluminium tubes, over which tarpaulins (see "Accessories" further down on this page) are stretched. The yacht is thus well protected, e.g. during winter storage on land in the open air or at a mooring on the water. The construction is suitable for boats / yachts with railing feet as well as bow and stern pulpit with a tube diameter of 22 mm or 25 mm. The overhang deck frame is bolted to the bow and stern pulpit at the front and aft. The centre supports are attached to the railing feet using adapters. The outer tube holds the tarpaulin away from the hull. This prevents chafing on the hull and ensures optimum ventilation. The specified length refers to the upper pole, which forms the ridge of the roof construction. The exact composition of the different sized sets can be found in the assembly instructions (Aufbauanleitung) under "Downloads & Information".The complete set is supplied in a 2.5 metre long cardboard roll. A transport bag is available as an accessory (see below).

DURADON LIGHT is an impregnated sailcloth, woven from spun polyester fiber. This sailcloth is similar in appearance and feel to cloths made of cotton, but has all the advantages of a synthetic fiber:very good UV resistance, high abrasion resistance, good tensile strength and tear resistance.Since DURADON has considerably more stretch than modern synthetic sailcloth due to its traditional weave (linen weave), corresponding guidelines should be observed in the use for sail making. The special impregnation of DURADON cloth is similar to the oil-copper finish formerly used for sails and provides high breathability with good water resistance and durable suppleness. The impregnation may stain somewhat.Cloth width 61 cm (24"), seam markes on both sides.Cloth weight 520g/m².Colors: white, maroon or brown.Whole rolls are also available.DURADON is available in two versions: DURADON LIGHT has a cloth weight of 520 g/m², DURADON EXTRA has a cloth weight of 640 g/m², with the same warp yarn and a slightly stronger weft yarn.Ask us for cloth and color samples!

Fittings for the NOA deck frame, overhang deck frame or A-frame.The standard sets can be customised even further to suit your own yacht with additional fittings and tubes (you will find these further down on this page under "Accessories").
The NOA A-frame forms a roof structure from sturdy aluminium tubes, over which tarpaulins (see further down on this page under "Accessories") are stretched.
