Marine engine controls transmit commands from the helm station to the engine and gearbox. With a single-lever control, throttle and gear selection are operated from the same handle: moving the lever from neutral first engages the gearbox and further movement increases engine speed. On the pedestal controls in the TOPLICHT range, the throttle can also be operated with the gearbox disengaged for warming up the engine.
TOPLICHT supplies mechanical pedestal controls for vessels with single or twin engines. The housings are made from bronze with a polished or chrome-plated finish, while shafts and connecting components are stainless steel. Controls are available with straight T-handles or curved levers with a knob. Gear and throttle travel can be adjusted to suit the installation. The controls are prepared for commonly used 33C control cables, with connection options for 43C cables also available.
For vessels with two helm stations, the range includes mechanical dual-station controls in which both operating positions work synchronously, allowing control to be taken from either station. Connection kits, neutral safety switches and components for electronic engine-control systems complete the range. When selecting an engine control, the number of engines and helm stations, required control travel, cable type and cable routing on board all need to be considered.
