"TONKI No.1" - the classic for sunny sailing areas. LE TONKINOIS MARINE NO.1 is a glossy, clear oil varnish specially developed for wooden surfaces in maritime environments. It is approved by the French Navy as a ship varnish and is suitable for both interior and exterior use. When applied properly, the product offers high weather and UV resistance, and is abrasion and impact resistant. Made from TONKINOIS varnish oil, but slightly thinner and faster-drying. The formulation is free from chemical additives, considered child-safe (according to DIN EN 71-3), and enables long-lasting surface protection with multiple applications.
Application
Marine No. 1 is applied to untreated or appropriately pretreated wood. Application is done using a brush, flat brush, or by spraying. The coats are applied thinly, with only one layer per day. For exterior areas, six to ten coats are recommended; for interior areas, half is sufficient. A primer with Bio Impression is recommended for untreated or highly absorbent wood. The application temperature should be at least 12 °C.
Technical Data
- Application area: Wooden surfaces indoors and outdoors, seawater and UV resistant
- Substrate: Untreated wood, wood-based materials, conditionally cork
- Primer: Bio Impression
- Coverage: 20 m²/l per coat
- Thinning: Use undiluted; when spraying max. 10% Le Tonkinois thinner
- Application method: Brushing, rolling, spraying
- Drying times (at 20 °C): Dust-dry after 5–8 h, recoatable after at least 24 h
Further information on application can be found in the Technical Data Sheet under 'Downloads'.
