LE TONKINOIS Yacht Oil Stain is a plant oil-based, intensely colored wood pre-treatment for hardwood surfaces indoors and outdoors. The stain penetrates deeply into the wood and creates a uniform coloration with a pleasant feel. It is resistant to dirt and water-repellent, and the pigmentation increases UV protection. In boatbuilding it is suitable for matching the color of wooden surfaces on decks, superstructures and other heavily used surfaces. For adequate protection, a subsequent protective coating with LE TONKINOIS Vernis or Marine No.1 is recommended.
Application: The surface must be dust- and grease-free and clean; the wood moisture should not exceed 15%. The stain is applied undiluted with a brush or roller to untreated wood. After a short exposure time, the excess is evenly distributed and removed with a lint-free cloth. It is recommended to create a test area beforehand. The processing temperature should be at least 12 °C. Walkability is achieved after three days with 2–3 coats.
Technical Data
- Field of application: Indoor and outdoor, e.g., boat decks, superstructures, wooden floors
- Substrate: Untreated wood, wood-based materials
- Coverage: 35–50 ml/m² (depending on type of wood)
- Application method: Brushing with brush or roller
- Drying times (at 20 °C): Dust-dry after 6–8 h, re-coatable after 12 h, walkable after 3 days
