Products from Cassens & Plath

Cassens & Plath is a traditional manufacturer of nautical precision instruments, founded in 1902 by Tanne Janssen Cassens. As an experienced captain, Cassens understood the necessity of reliable instruments at sea. Originally based in Bremen and located in Bremerhaven since 1972, the company produces high-quality magnetic compasses, sextants, and other navigational aids that are renowned worldwide for their precision and reliability.
All Cassens & Plath products are meticulously assembled, adjusted, and tested by hand in Germany. Each instrument adheres to strict quality standards that make it unique. Since 2014, Cassens & Plath has been part of Zöllner from Kiel, a specialist in signaling systems on water and land, led by CEO Dr. Philipp Murmann. This partnership enables the company to combine its tradition of precision manufacturing with modern technological innovations.
In addition to producing proven series products, Cassens & Plath offers customized solutions tailored to individual customer needs. Each product combines centuries-old seafaring tradition with the latest technical and scientific knowledge. The ability to provide maintenance and repairs even after many years is a matter of course for the company, emphasizing its commitment to durability and quality.
The Cassens & Plath workshop, located directly at the Bremerhaven fishing port, brings together the best of over 100 years of craftsmanship. Here, state-of-the-art CAD milling machines stand alongside machines that have been in use for decades. Almost all components are manufactured in-house to ensure the highest quality standards. More than 30 dedicated employees bring their skills and experience to the table every day, creating products that stand out for their quality and precision compared to standard alternatives.
