Products from Schatz

‘SCHATZ 1881’ - this brand name stands for high-quality instruments with an excellent reputation worldwide. In 1881, August Schatz founded his clock manufactory in the Black Forest, which from 1884 traded as Aktiengesellschaft Jahresuhren-Fabrik AG and from 1923 as Jahresuhren-Fabrik GmbH Aug. Schatz und Söhne, Triberg.
In 1958, the development and production of marine clocks with 8-day crystal striking mechanisms began. From then on, barometers, thermometers and hygrometers were also inserted into the cases in the style of classic ship's clocks, which are made from a single piece of heavy brass.
The brass cases are either polished and double lacquered or chrome-plated. The housings are hinged. They have a hinge and are closed either with a toggle lock or screws. This means that the instruments can be opened from the front, for example for setting or changing the battery in a quartz watch, and do not have to be removed from the wall. The combination of high-precision technology and traditional design ensures that the maritime treasure instruments are among the most important in the world.
After celebrating its 100th anniversary (company history 1881-1981), the company went bankrupt in 1982. After several changes of ownership, SCHATZ instruments have been manufactured by the Danish company DELITE since 2012.
