EPIFANES PP Varnish EXTRA is a fast-drying, two-component clear varnish based on alkyd resin and isocyanate with a high solids content and excellent chemical and mechanical resistance.
The high-gloss varnish is suitable for interior and exterior use above the waterline and can also be used as a sealer on oily woods such as teak, iroko, or Oregon pine. It forms an elastic, filling protective film with high impact resistance, good gloss retention, and excellent adhesion to solid wood, veneer, and plywood. For optimal UV protection, a finishing coat is recommended.
Application: The substrate should be sanded, dust- and grease-free, with a maximum wood moisture content of 15%. Mix both components at a 1:1 volume ratio and apply with a brush or spray gun after a 15-minute induction time. The first coat can be thinned with 5–10% EPIFANES THINNER FOR 2-C VARNISH PP. For exterior use, at least four coats are required. For optimal UV protection, a final topcoat with a 1-C varnish such as EPIFANES Clear Varnish (Art.No. 2050-001) or a 2-C PU varnish such as EPIFANES DD Varnish (2063-900) is recommended.
