Description

HEMPEL LIGHT PRIMER is a high-quality 2-component epoxy primer for applications below and above the water. It can be used on rigid substrates as a barrier against penetrating water vapor, on GRP for osmosis prevention and repair, and on metal surfaces as corrosion protection. It can also be used on plywood and hardwood. Very suitable as an adhesion promoter for top coats and antifouling.

HEMPEL LIGHT PRIMER
HEMPEL LIGHT PRIMER is a high-quality two-component primer based on epoxy resin for underwater and above-water applications. It serves as a good barrier against penetrating water vapor on rigid substrates, for osmosis prevention and repair on GRP and as corrosion protection on metals. It can also be used on plywood and hardwood. Suitable for interior and exterior use above and below the waterline, as well as for coating keels and rudders.Within the specified recoating intervals, LIGHT PRIMER can also be recoated directly with a subsequent product without intermediate sanding. The surface should be almost dry, but still slightly tacky. For a subsequent coat of antifouling, a coat of HEMPEL UNDERWATER PRIMER (Art. No. 2577-053) is recommended as an adhesion primer.Technical dataSubstrates: GRP, plywood, steel, aluminum, existing coatingsPre-treatment:GRP: sand, clean, remove dustPlywood: seal with a suitable sealerSteel: high-pressure cleaning, sandblasting or mechanical rust removal, dust removalOld coatings: sand, clean, dryPorous surfaces: prime first coat of Light Primer with 20% thinnerSubsequent coat: standard 1K and 2K products (see data sheet)Coverage: 8.2 m²/l at 60 µm dry film thicknessThinner: HEMPEL'S THINNER 845 (Art.
