LACQ YACHTLACK is a traditionally cooked clear varnish based on wood oil and phenolic resin with a high solids content and integrated UV filter. It forms a high-gloss, elastic protective layer with excellent weather and water resistance. The varnish is suitable for new builds on solid, raw wood (e.g. mahogany, meranti, Oregon pine) as well as for renovation coats on intact 1K or 2K varnish systems in the above-water area. Also suitable for doors, window frames, and garden furniture.
Application: The varnish is applied with a brush or by spraying. For new builds, seven coats are recommended: the first coat diluted 50%, the second 25%, the third 15%, coats 4 to 7 only 0–5%. Intermediate sanding is done with P220 (dry), P280 (dry), and P400 (wet). Dilution is done with turpentine (brush) or petrol (spray gun).
Technical Data
- Application area: High-gloss clear varnish for wood surfaces in the above-water area
- Substrate: Solid wood (e.g. mahogany, meranti, Oregon pine), plywood; clean, dry, sanded
- Primer: Not required
- Coverage: approx. 14 m²/l (depending on substrate and application)
- Thinning: Turpentine (brush), petrol (spraying)
- Application method: Brush or spray gun (1.2–1.5 mm nozzle, 2–3 bar, 20–24 sec. DIN 4)
- Drying times (at 18 °C): Dust dry: approx. 24 hrs, recoatable: approx. 24 hrs
