To some crew members deck scrubbing with a marine bucket, an ANCHOR deck scrub or a scrubbing brush is an unpopular job. Nevertheless, on every sailing and motor yacht, some dirt has to be removed. Wax, oil, grease, tar stains or algae - there is always a special cleaner for every purpose and every surface. Also for yellowing in the area of the water pass or for cleaning inflatable dinghies and fenders, there are helpful washing and cleaning concentrates. Industrial cleaners or alkaline degreasers, such as silicone and wax removers can be used for surface preparation. Weathered wooden decks can be made bright and clean with a wood or teak cleaner. There is a similarly diverse selection of polishes that help to restore gelcoat and chalked paint coats to a new surface shine. There are also metal polishes, abrasive pastes with a coarse grain, completely abrasive-free polishes and special acrylic glass polishes for removing matt areas. On board, however, it is also important to keep equipment parts such as winches, sea valves or anchor winches running smoothly and to protect them from corrosion. There are also specialized products for this in the form of greases, oil and grease sprays. For corrosion protection of inaccessible metal surfaces and cavities, for example, environmentally friendly sheep fat or wool fat (lanolin) is suitable.
