The LEFANT Epoxy Primer is specially designed for underwater use and can be applied to gelcoat, plastic, steel, aluminum, Z-drives and propellers. The two-component epoxy resin-based primer is suitable for the pre-treatment of antifoulings such as LEFANT T-Coat, it is oil and chemical resistant, protects the hull against the penetration of moisture and thus prevents osmosis. Thanks to the long overcoating intervals, it is easy to apply and cures even at low temperatures (min. 5 °C). Available in white or black.Application on painted substrates: Old one-component coatings and primers should be removed, two-component primers in good condition can be roughly sanded (grain size 60-80). Then clean thoroughly. If necessary, level out uneven areas with epoxy filler.When recoating steel hulls, the surface should be sandblasted or roughly sanded and painted with a thinned coat of epoxy primer (20-30% thinned with Lefant Multi-Thinner) immediately after sanding. For better adhesion and sealing of porous, sandblasted or rough surfaces and for recoating, an epoxy-based primer, such as LEFANT Epoxy Primer, is recommended (first coat diluted with 20-30% LEFANT Multi-Thinner).Application method: Brush or rollerApplication temperature: Minimum 7 °C, an ideal application temperature is 15-25 °C. To improve conditions for application at lower temperatures, use for example a heating element that can be placed close to the surface and then place the paint can in a bath of heated water.Application: Mix the primer with the desired color additive, add hardener and stir thoroughly. One paint pot contains 55 ml of paint and is sufficient for a 750 ml can. 2-3 coats (approx. 100 microns/coat) are recommended for a new structure, 3-4 coats for the color white.
