Fire protection on board involves more than extinguishing a fire. Equipment is also required for escape, personal protection and gaining access to the seat of a fire. The items that must be carried depend on the vessel, its operating area and the applicable equipment regulations. TOPLICHT supplies fire extinguishers, fire blankets, escape breathing devices and associated equipment for commercial and traditional vessels.
The range includes ABC dry-powder extinguishers for fires involving solid, liquid and gaseous materials, as well as CO₂ extinguishers for flammable liquids. Fire-water systems can be equipped with branchpipes incorporating a water-spray protection curtain, coupling spanners and other fire-fighting fittings. Glass-fibre fire blankets, fire-resistant gloves, fire axes, hatchets and crowbars provide further equipment for work at the scene of a fire. Selected products carry MED, SOLAS or other product-specific approvals.
For evacuation from smoke-filled spaces, the range includes Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs) with their own supply of breathing air or oxygen. Fire-resistant rescue lines, retaining belts and explosion-protected torches are also available. Fire-plan containers provide protected storage for copies of fire-control and evacuation plans while keeping these documents accessible to emergency personnel.
