The abbreviation HNA stands for "Handelsschiff-Normen-Ausschuss" (merchant ship standard attachment). Because many lights and electrical fittings must adhere to specific standards in the shipping industry, the term HNA is now a synonym for heavy, solid, high-quality electrical fittings, which as a rule are made of brass and thus fulfil the exceptionally high demands for safe use and corrosion resistance.
