POB-NET Rescue system
A lightweight rescue and recovery system with a compact pack size for easy use.
The rescue net, which forms a tunnel, allows a (unconscious) person in the water to be quickly and easily retrieved and secured without requiring their cooperation. This also works for objects that have fallen overboard or the family dog.
The POB-Net is packed like a pop-up tent in a round fabric bag (diameter 700 mm, height 70 mm, with printed step-by-step illustrated instructions) and can thus be stowed away easily. The bag is available in either yellow or white. The bag is also available separately as an accessory (see “Accessories & spare parts”).
Before use, the bag is secured to the railing with a carabiner. The net is removed while folded and pops open to its full size when thrown into the water. The rescue net is “pulled over” the person in the water vertically, like a fish trap. Once the net completely encloses the person vertically, it is brought into a horizontal position by pulling on the rescue line. The person being rescued is thereby enclosed as if in a hammock.
Hooking the recovery line to the railing (using a carabiner) prevents the person from drifting away from the ship. People weighing up to 120 kg can be hoisted onto the deck in the net (using a recovery device or a halyard), while maintaining the gentle horizontal position.
After use, the maintenance-free rescue net is simply rinsed with fresh water and packed back into its bag once dry.
