COELAN Boat Primer is a 1-component polyurethane primer for the pretreatment of hardwood and softwood surfaces in conjunction with the transparent COELAN boat coating system. The pigmented glaze improves adhesion, provides a color match to the wood, and ensures a light-resistant base tint. It is slightly thixotropic (less dripping), quick-drying, and contains no biocides or fungicides.
Available color shades:
- yellowish translucent for softwoods and hardwoods such as teak, pine, fir, larch, spruce
- reddish translucent for light-sensitive woods such as mahogany
Application: The wood surface must be clean, dry, and free from separating substances. The processing temperature should be between +5 °C and +30 °C and a maximum of 80% relative humidity. The product is ready to use and should be stored at room temperature for approx. 24 hours before use.
The primer is applied with a foam roller or brush to the sanded wood surface (grit 80). Tools can be cleaned with COELAN thinner (Art.No. 2629-001). During application and curing, ensure even ventilation, and personal protective equipment (gloves, respirator mask) should be worn for safety.
Contains isocyanates. May cause allergic reactions. As of August 24, 2023, appropriate training must be completed before industrial or commercial use (according to REACH).
