Impellers made of oil-resistant nitrile rubber have a high resistance to oils, greases and hydrocarbons, they have good aging properties and low abrasion. Nitrile impellers are used, for example, for bilge pumps when the water is heavily contaminated by oil or diesel.
MC97/EPDM and neoprene impellers are used for engine cooling and fresh or salt water pumping. Neoprene is the most commonly used material and is suitable wherever very small amounts of oil or diesel fuel are present.
