Description

Solvent-free, soft coating material based on lanolin (wool fat). FLUID FILM Gel BN is a physiologically safe and environmentally friendly corrosion protection agent. It serves as a single-layer long-term protective coating for ships, docks, offshore units, and similar objects when surface preparation is limited to high-pressure washing. The viscous gel can be used as a lubricant for machines, equipment, winches, and for wire rope preservation.

The product offers excellent corrosion protection, lasting up to 20 years in enclosed spaces. It penetrates residual rust, and promotes the self-healing effect in case of damage to existing coatings. FLUID FILM Gel BN is temperature stable from -45 °C to +70 °C. Complies with MIL-Spec C-23050 guidelines.

Preparation: Loose components, dirt, rust, and standing water must be removed before application. Surfaces must be dry.

Application: FLUID FILM Gel BN can be applied using a brush, roller, spatula, or airless spray. The greater the layer thickness, the better the corrosion protection. Due to its gel-like consistency, thicker layers up to 1000 µm can be applied. The material can be used directly from the container. For areas with strong water turbulence, it is recommended to subsequently apply an additional layer of PERMA FILM (Art.No. 2718-501).

PERMA FILM AL Corrosion Protection
Permanently elastic, slow-drying, single-component thick grey film paint that can be applied to surfaces preserved with FLUID FILM Liquid A and prevents washout. This calcium phosphate compound dissolved in resin provides effective corrosion protection for all bare, rusted, or previously painted ferrous metals. PERMA FILM AL is suitable for ballast water tanks, offshore structures, machine components, and hard-to-derust areas such as the bilge. The lamellar pigment structure forms a barrier against water and oxygen, even on incompletely derusted or damp substrates. The paint can also be applied at low temperatures and is particularly resistant to saltwater.Surface preparation: Clean the surface (high-pressure wash) and remove loose particles with a wire brush. Surfaces may be surface damp but without water droplets. A thin coat of FLUID FILM LIQUID A is recommended as a primer. This combination keeps the system flexible, cures on the surface, and combines the positive properties of FLUID FILM’s penetration capability with those of a solid protective layer.Application: The product can be applied by airless spraying, brush, or roller. PERMA FILM can be processed directly from the container; thinning is not necessary at temperatures above 15 °C. For a new coating, apply two layers; the first with 150, the second with 250 µm wet film thickness (equivalent to 100 and 150 µm dry film thickness).During application and drying, sufficient ventilation must be ensured to guarantee uniform drying. A respirator must be worn when spraying. The drying process can be accelerated by using warm air.Technical DataApplication area: Coating of ballast water tanks, offshore installations, machines, equipment, steel surfacesSubstrate: Steel, also hand-derusted (St 2/St 3) or HD-cleaned (Wa 2); dry or damp surfacesPretreatment: optional: FLUID FILM LIQUID A (Art.No. 2717-001) Coverage: approx. 2.5 m²/l at 250 µm dry film thicknessThinning: optional, at temperatures below +15 °C: Special cable cleaner PF-SolventApplication method: Brush, roller, airless (professional users)Drying times (at 20 °C): water-resistant after approx. 30 hrs at 200 µm film thicknessFurther information on application can be found in the Technical Data Sheet under 'Downloads'.

FLUID FILM LIQUID A Lanolin Corrosion Protection
FLUID FILM LIQUID A is a transparent, solvent-free, oil-based corrosion protection based on lanolin (wool grease) for soft coating of steel surfaces in above and underwater areas. The product displaces water, penetrates existing rust, and forms an elastic, adhesive protective film. It was originally intended for flooding repair-needed ballast water tanks on ships, floating docks, offshore units, for flooding coating of cavities, ballast water tanks, offshore structures, and hard-to-reach areas. The protective film lasts up to two years in enclosed cavities. Additionally, it is suitable for loosening seized rust or making rusted metal parts movable. Application on damp or slightly corroded surfaces is also possible. The product contains no solvents, is environmentally friendly, and easy to apply. Available as spray (type AS-R), in cans or containers (for dipping, spraying, or brushing).Application: Application is carried out depending on the area of use by flooding, brushing, rolling, or spraying. The material should be homogenized before use. After application, the gel time when flooding is about 3–4 hours. Application is possible at any temperature. Ensure adequate ventilation and personal protective equipment.Technical DataField of application: Single-layer corrosion protection on steel surfacesSubstrate: Steel (bare, rusty or damp); no special pretreatment necessaryPrimer: not requiredCoverage: approx. 12 m²/l at 80 µm wet film (roller, brush application)Thinning: not necessaryApplication method: Brush, roller, spraygun, flooding (professional users)Drying times: none; forms a non-drying, oily protective filmFor more information on application, refer to the technical data sheet under 'Downloads'.
