HNA electrical equipment is intended for switching, connecting and distributing electrical circuits in shipbuilding and commercial shipping. HNA stands for “Handelsschiff-Normen-Ausschuss”, a traditional German marine standardisation system that has subsequently been continued within DIN standards. Typical features include housings made from heavy brass or moulded insulating material, protected cable entries and ceramic electrical components. Most of the HNA equipment supplied by TOPLICHT is rated to IP56.
The range includes two- and three-pole plug connections with plugs, couplers and sockets, together with switches and push-buttons for various functions on board. These include on/off and changeover switches, push and signal buttons, emergency-stop buttons and Morse keys. Junction boxes provide connection and distribution points for electrical wiring. Depending on the version, housings are made from brass or white moulded material, while switches use ceramic rotary mechanisms and other ceramic electrical components.
The brass equipment is fitted with watertight W14 cable entries for unshielded cables; versions for screened cables can be supplied with corresponding cable glands. Different numbers and arrangements of cable entries allow the installation to be adapted to the cable routing on board. In addition to complete HNA components, further elements and replacement parts are available for maintaining or extending existing installations.
