Description

The ELBE 3 kerosene lamp is the brightest lamp in the HAMBURGER HAFENLICHTER collection and is crafted by hand in a small workshop—the famous CHRISTIAN WEIMEISTER hardware store—on Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken, based on old designs. Each lamp is one-of-a-kind and bears an embossed serial number.

The tank is pressed from sheet copper and features a riveted decorative brass band. The vase ring and the burner are made of brass. A lockable brass filler neck is soldered into the tank, so the burner does not need to be unscrewed for refilling.

The lamp is hand-polished; the harmonious interplay of the two materials—copper and brass—allows the warm light of the kerosene flame to shine pleasantly. The kerosene lamp is equipped with a 20-line MATADOR burner. This burner emits a light intensity comparable to that of an incandescent bulb of approximately 30 watts. The ingenious wick guide with a rack-and-pinion mechanism, a good oxygen supply, the shade cap, and the bulbous cylinder ensure a very bright flame solely through the vaporization of the kerosene—without pressure and without a wick sleeve.

A small copper filling funnel is included.
