HOOK & MOOR Mooring boat hook
The HOOK & MOOR is a telescopic boat and buoy hook that has been specially developed to make docking maneuvers easier.Â
The hook contains a patented, ball-bearing mechanism that allows attached mooring lines to be conveniently threaded through rings, bollards, cleats or ladders from on board with a simple movement. You can choose between a pulling or pushing motion.
How it works (see drawings):
1. Release the carabiner and place the eye or a bight of the mooring line into the carabiner.
2. Choose between the pulling or pushing mode and position the mooring line as shown in the illustrations.Â
3. You can now guide the boat hook through an eye/cleat either from above or below and bring it back on board.Â
Tip: For moving mooring to buoys or rings. For fixed objects such as cleats, the pushing mode can also be used.
Whether in locks, when mooring to sheet pile walls, mooring buoys, at the pier or at the jetty, the HOOK & MOOR Vario is an ingenious docking aid that speeds up and makes it safer to establish a line connection. Especially on vessels with high freeboards or when sailing with a small crew, the patented hook can be a very helpful addition to the boat equipment.
When locked in place, the HOOK & MOOR Vario can also be used like a conventional boat hook. The hook and its mechanism are made of carbon-fibre-reinforced polyamide and stainless steel, while the telescopic handle is made of forged aluminium. The boat hook is buoyant.
Important: The minimum diameter for openings in which the HOOK&MOOR is to be used is 35mm.
Maintenance: to ensure that the HOOK & MOOR mechanism runs smoothly, the buoy hook should be cleaned after the season or if unexpected friction occurs during use. To do this, immerse the hook head in a bucket of fresh water while repeatedly performing the pushing and pulling movements. Then allow the hook to dry in the extended position with the hook head pointing downwards. If necessary, a little WD-40 can be sprayed onto the hook head to keep it moving freely.
