The IC-M94D is the top model of the ICOM VHF marine handheld radios and successor to the IC-MM93DE.
AIS receiver and DSC in one marine handheld radio
Vessel traffic information from the integrated AIS receiver is shown on the display. A single DSC call can be made using the AIS target call function. The easily accessible, secured distress button is located on the back of the device for emergency calls.
6 W transmission power and 10 hours operating time
The transmission power of 6 W gives the user a large communication range. With a capacity of 2400 mAh, the supplied BP-306 Li-ion battery pack allows an operating time of 10 hours under normal conditions.
First-class 1500 mW AF power
ICOM's special high-performance loudspeaker ensures clear communication even in noisy environments.
Simplified navigation function
The navigation function guides you to a specified waypoint. Up to 50 favourite destinations can be assigned as waypoints.
Float'n-Flash and MOB Auto-Set function
If the IC-M94DE falls into the water, it floats on the surface with the display, keypad and emergency call button flashing. If the latter is pressed, the handheld radio automatically transmits a man-overboard distress signal.
Features:
- Built-in GPS receiver
- Integrated AIS receiver
- Active noise-cancelling technology
- IPX7 waterproof (for 30 minutes at a water depth of 1 metre)
- Two and three-channel monitoring
- Preferred channel function
- Supports four-digit channel numbers
- AquaQuake function
- swimmable, waterproof according to IPX7
- MMSI code can be entered once by the user, after which the DSC functions are available
- ATIS code can be entered once by the user; the ATIS channel group is then available
Scope of delivery: BP306 battery pack, BC-251 desktop charger, BC-242 230 V mains adapter, MB-133 belt clip, FA-SC59V antenna, wrist strap, manual.
If you have an ATIS number for inland radio, you can store it in your handheld radio. In countries such as the Netherlands or Belgium, the handheld radio may also be used without restrictions in inland areas.
In Germany (or France), on the other hand, it is prohibited to use handheld radios in a traffic area other than "radio on board", which in turn is taboo for small vessels (<20m). This means that recreational boaters are de facto prohibited from using a handheld radio in the German inland area.
Anyone who does so anyway is committing an administrative offence (offence no. 22.240510). This may result in a warning fine (55 euros) or even a higher fine.
You can find more technical details in the operating instructions (Bedienungsanleitung) as a pdf file further down on this page under "Downloads & Information".
