For application in areas where safety is critical, the use of forged articles is highly recommended.As is true of all forged stainless steel pieces, they will not break suddenly, but will deform first. Forged key-pin shackle, made from exceptionally strong and seawater-resistant stainless steel 1.4567 (AISI305CU) by the quality manufacturer WICHARD. A secondary pin can be unscrewed on the side, so that the shackle can be inserted into an already-spliced eye. The unthreaded captive pin can be released quickly and easily by rotating it a half-turn, which makes these shackles exceptionally good for halyards.These high-strength shackles, marked by WICHARD with HR (high resistance), are used preferentially with high-load halyards, as well as with wire and Dyneema rope.
