The Pro Protect A from Sterling protects the alternator and is installed in the charging circuit between the alternator and the battery bank.

If the charging circuit is interrupted while the alternator is running, e.g. due to unintentional actuation of the battery disconnect switch or tripping of a fuse, the alternator will not be charged. The excess energy can damage the alternator's charge controller.

The alternator protection consumes the excess energy in the event of a fault. Tripping is signalled by a red LED. An external alarm or signalling device (see accessories) can be connected via a switching contact (max. load capacity 1A).
