Anchoring and berthing place tensile, impact and chafe loads on ground tackle, mooring equipment and the vessel’s side. Anchors, fenders, gangways and associated deck equipment therefore need to be matched to the size of the vessel and the intended operation. When selecting an anchor, relevant factors include anchor weight and design, the expected seabed and the arrangement of the remaining anchoring gear. During berthing, fenders protect the hull and maintain clearance from quay walls, piles and other vessels.
TOPLICHT supplies traditional weight anchors made from cast steel as well as folding anchor designs in hot-dip galvanised steel that can be stowed in a hawse pipe. Hull protection includes inflatable PVC ball and long fenders, solid-rubber tubular fenders and wooden rubbing fenders made from poplar. These different designs cover applications on work boats, fishing vessels and other commercial craft. Aluminium boat hooks assist with berthing manoeuvres and with picking up lines.
For access between vessel and shore, the range also includes buoyant aluminium gangways for inland shipping. They have a slip-resistant walking surface, removable rail stanchions with hand ropes, shore-side rollers and hooks at the vessel end. Matching gangway safety nets are fitted beneath the gangway to catch a person in the event of a fall and are available in different material strengths.
