The ULTRA MARINE increases the overall weight of the anchor system and changes the angle of pull of the chain, making it less likely that the anchor will break out of the anchor shank. 

The shape makes the ring easy to thread onto the chain.

For recovery, the ring can be deflected down to the anchor shank so that the anchor can be broken out directly over the shank.
